Knee and Hip Replacement Surgery
Knee replacement surgery is the most common joint replacement procedure. Many people have knee arthritis, but it can be difficult to know when the right time to have a knee replacement surgery is. Knee replacement surgery is a procedure that is performed when the knee joint has reached a point when painful symptoms can no longer be controlled with non-operative treatments.
Hip replacement surgery is the second most common joint replacement procedure, closely following knee replacements. In a hip replacement procedure, your surgeon removes the damaged joint surface and replaces it with an artificial implant. Destruction of hip due to fractures, pediatric diseases, avascular necrosis requires this surgery. It gives patient painless, stable and mobile joint.
The term literally means “to look within the joint”. Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure in which an examination and sometimes treatment of damage of the interior of a joint is performed using an arthroscope, a type of endoscope that is inserted into the joint through a small incision. Arthroscopy is used for joints of the knee, shoulder. Sports injuries to the knee are treated through arthroscopy. Most patients have their arthroscopic surgery as outpatients and arthroscopy is considered as day care surgery. The patient is operated in the morning and is back home by evening. Minimum operative trauma and fast recovery ensures early resumption of duties. This is possible by this technically demanding surgery.
The joint reconstruction unit can perform its functions upto the mark due to presence of state of the art, well equipped operation theatre, world class arthroscope and instruments, image intensifier(C-arm), at par post operative monitoring rehabilitation on facilities.
